Your department's data

Your department owns its answers and files. You give us permission to use them as these terms say, and you can take them with you at any time.
We use your setup answers (rigs, tanks, run cards, mutual aid, fill and draft sites, times) to build and keep your cards and to make FirePreplans better.
We also use them combined with other departments' answers, with no department named, for example "the average tanker size in Pennsylvania". A combined number always has at least 5 departments in it, so no one department can be picked out. We may share or license combined numbers.
We never sell your department's own data, and we never publish your answers with your name on them.
Your mutual aid neighbors see your answers only if you turn on sharing.
Owner notes and your crew's card checks are used only to run your department's cards. We never use them for anything else, and they are never part of a combined number.
Public data, like building records, hydrant maps, state lists and IRS filings, is public. We use it freely, and credit the publishers that ask for it on the Data credits page.
Your members see your cards. You choose who else gets them, like your 911 center.

Keeping it safe

Only the people your chief adds can sign in to your department. The chief adds and removes them.
Your data is stored with our hosting providers and is encrypted when it travels and when it is stored.
Our service providers host the site and the database and send email. They handle your data only to do that for us.

If you stop

You take a full export with you.
We keep your setup for a year in case you come back. Then we delete your answers, files, owner notes and crew checks. Ask, and we delete them sooner.
Combined numbers made before you stop stay, because no department is named in them.

Property owners

A card holds what a crew needs on a call: the building, the way in, the water. Owners who send us details for their address see only their own address, and your department checks what they send before it goes on a card. We use owner notes only to run your department's cards. An owner can ask us to remove their note at any time.

This website

When you ask for a board packet, we keep your name, role, email, your department and the page you were on, so we can send the packet and follow up. We do not add you to a mailing list.
When you send a note from the button on a page, we keep the note, the page and the name you give.
To show departments near you, the site uses the approximate location of your internet connection. We do not save it. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs for a short time.
We do not use advertising cookies or trackers. Your browser remembers the name you put on a note, on your own device only. Signing in keeps you signed in on that device until you sign out.
To have your details removed, send a note and say so.
This site is for fire departments. It is not meant for children.
