FirePreplans

How it works.

Four steps, then the call.

  1. We already mapped your first due

    Done before you sign up.

  2. You tell us your SOGs

How your department runs a call. You answer once.

  3. We apply them to every building

A pre-plan for every building, not only the target hazards.

  4. You check what we flag

The flagged cards and a sample from each response area.

1

We already mapped your first due.

This is done before you sign up. Find your department and its page shows your own numbers.

  • Every building, with its type, its size and, where we have it, its height.
  • Life-risk sites: nursing homes, schools, hospitals, care homes and day cares.
  • Hydrants and water sources, where a county or water company has them on record.
  • Roads, and the route from your first-due station to each building.
  • Flood zones.

Every value says if it is estimated and the month its list is from. A list more than 2 years old gets a check flag.

Find your department

2

You tell us your SOGs.

Public records cannot tell us how you run a call, so your officers do, once.

  • Your stations, your rigs and the tank size on each one.
  • Your response areas and the run card for each one, whatever you call them: boxes, zones or grids.
  • Your water supply: the hydrant lay, how far you lay before you shuttle water, the shuttle with your tankers or tenders, fill sites, portable tanks, and your times.
  • The water need method you use: NFA, ISO or NFPA 1142.
  • Your mutual aid departments and the rigs they send.
  • Files you already have, like old pre-plans, hydrant lists or run card maps, in any shape: PDF, photo or spreadsheet.

One question per screen, on any device. It saves as you go, "Not sure" is always an answer, and you can come back later. Every question has a reason under it. The cards use your own words, like tanker or tender, and box or zone.

3

We apply your SOGs to every building.

A pre-plan for every building, not only the target hazards. The homes, the farms and the strip of stores get one too.

  • The water need for each building, by the method you picked.
  • With a hydrant in reach: the lay, the way your SOGs say to lay it.
  • With no hydrant in reach: the water shuttle. Where the portable tanks go, where the shuttle fills, the loop and its time, and how many tankers or tenders it needs, worked out with your own rigs.
  • The route in from your first-due station, and the length of the drive.
  • Life-risk flags, so the nursing home and the day care stand out.

The math is on every card, so your officers can follow it and fix what is off. Change an SOG later and every card that uses it is redone.

Water need starts from the NFA fire flow formula, and tanker travel times from ISO's formula. Or set your own numbers in setup, and every card follows them.

You check what we flag.

Automated checks run on every card first. Your officers look only at the cards a check flags, plus a sample from each response area, and then the chief signs off.

What the checks look at

  • The address sits on its lot.
  • The building and its height were found.
  • The road route and the drive were measured.
  • The water is in reach, and the tank site keeps every rule you set.
  • Every value says if it is estimated, and no list is more than 2 years old.

Each flag says what to look at, like a drive measured only as a straight line, or a gap to the next house that was read from the map and not measured.

Then your crews have it on the call.
